Canada Post is a federal Crown corporation that is mandated to provide quality postal services that meet the needs of all Canadians including individuals and businesses, in a secure and financially self-sustaining manner. The Canada Post Corporation has three subsidiaries: Purolator Holdings Ltd. SCI Group Inc. and Innovapost Inc. The Canada Post segment is evolving quickly with more than 50% of revenues coming from competitive products. In many rural and remote communities throughout the country, the post office remains as the single point of physical connection to the rest of Canada and beyond. The Minister responsible for the Canada Post Corporation has announced a new vision for Canada Post to ensure it provides high-quality innovative public services that Canadians expect at a reasonable cost. This new vision provides an opportunity to adapt to demographic changes, employ new technologies, and respond to the evolving expectations of its customers and the communities it serves.The President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post is one of Canada’s most complex leadership positions. This position reports to the board of directors, which in turn reports to Parliament through the Minister of Public Services and Procurement, and works with the board and the Government of Canada in setting the corporation’s objectives and broad policies. The President and Chief Executive Officer will play a primary leadership role in operationalizing the new vision for Canada Post. The President and Chief Executive Officer has general oversight of the business and is accountable for the profitability and growth of Canada Post and its subsidiaries. The responsibilities include the development of operating and capital plans and budgets seeking acquisitions and alliances creating a commercial culture and values that are dynamic and entrepreneurial in order to adapt to the rapidly changing digital environment and global competitors and disrupters and recommending changes in rates and other regulatory matters to the board. The President and Chief Executive Officer is also responsible for developing and implementing progressive human resources strategies, ensuring a solid labour management relationship, establishing measures of corporate performance, leading a highly competent team, and ensuring the Corporation’s compliance with the Canada Post Corporation Act, the Financial Administration Act and other applicable legislation, as well as the Canadian Postal Service Charter.Further details about the organization and its activities can be found on the Canada Post Corporation's website.
